EPFL Innovation Park, Groupe Mutuel and Roche invite you to the 2023 opening ceremony - Tech4Eva on March 14, 2023. Tech4Eva is looking forward to revealing to you the final selection of the 2023 cohort. Meet the selected FemTech start-ups and projects of the equity free global accelerator program on March 14th!
Femtech has the potential to revolutionize women's health and wellbeing. Not only does this technology make it easier for women to manage their health, but it also helps fill gaps in medical research and knowledge about women's health. In addition, this market is growing rapidly, with investment and interest from both private and public sectors. This demonstrates the importance and demand for technology that specifically addresses women's health needs.
Don't miss the keynote by Roche Speakers Valerie Hepp and Luca La Porta on the topic of "How can partnering with external players play a role in closing the gap in women's health?", the keynote by WHO Innovation Hub Head Louise Agersnap on "Scaling innovations to accelerate impact in public health" and the panel discussion "How to bring tech solutions forward and optimize prevention for breast cancer" with Silja Chouquet, CCO, ARDITIS, Dr. Hossam Hadhoud, Health System Partner, Roche and Jerome Mariethoz, Director Health & Prevention of Groupe Mutuel.
The 3rd Opening Ceremony of Tech4Eva is organized virtually and at the premises of Roche in Kaiseraugst near Basel to accelerate and disrupt Women's health across the world. The event brings together the ecosystem including 400 experts, ecosystem builders, investors, corporates, researchers, entrepreneurs, and innovators to co-create new solutions and to launch initiatives for better health for all, and for gender equity in health research. Event Speakers
Lan is the Deputy Managing Director of EPFL Innovation Park and an Expert of Innosuisse – the Swiss Innovation Agency. She has 23 years of hands-on professional experience in industry as well as in the ecosystem of innovation & entrepreneurship.
Lan started her career at R&D department of Rolex, in charge of creating new computer aided design and optimisation tools in the product development process. She was later appointed as Head of Operational Planning at Pictet, working closely with a startup to design, develop and implement a management information system for group operation control. As the Managing Director of Geneva Creativity Center, she connected large corporations, SMEs, startups and researchers to initiate innovative joint R&D projects.
Currently at EPFL Innovation Park, she is leading entrepreneurship training and acceleration programs and is helping startups to establish business partnership with large corporations. Lan has a PhD degree from EPFL, an MBA from HEC Lausanne and postdoctoral applied research experience at Stanford University.
Valérie leads Roche Pharma Partnering activities in the Digital and Personalised Healthcare space in Basel.
As a Business Development leader, Valérie has brought in innovation for Roche’s portfolio through M&A, in- and out-licensing transactions across various therapeutic areas (onc, imm, neuroscience, rare diseases, etc.).
She has also spearheaded strategic initiatives across Roche divisions: Diagnostics, Pharma, Foundation Medicine, and Flatiron.
Luca La Porta worked 22 years in the pharma industry and is currently the Personalized Healthcare Ecosystems Solution Lead - Roche Informatics. He passionately leads the Personalized HealthCare Ecosystems Solution with the goal of transforming the way diseases are managed and potentially save lives.
After almost 10 years leading the Italian business partners team responsible for alignment of Informatics and Business Strategy, in 2013 he moved to Basel with different leading roles in regional/global teams.
• Ecosystems Solution Lead the team to deliver capabilities and solutions to support evidence generation, enabling healthcare ecosystem stakeholders to work together, connect/share data, to generate insights that improve patients outcomes
• Strategic partnering to develop Vision and Strategy to support Healthcare transformation focusing on the Personalized Healthcare
• Responsible for assessment on (HCO) healthcare organization readiness to be selected for Real World Data generation as part of the country HealthCare ecosystem.
• The IT assessment, system landscape in the strategic evaluation of Merger & Acquisition
• CRM harmonization (2010-2013)
• The Roche European digital ecosystem program (2013-2015)
He holds a Master from SDA-Bocconi in Pharmaceutical Marketing.
Hossam comes with 10 years of diversified Experience in Roche Pharma, locally in Egypt he has been in commercial, leadership, access & policy roles as well as on Regional and Global levels. He leads projects in Digital Health and in the innovation space.
Currently, he is leading the partnership between Roche and Lunit in collaboration with Microsoft for an AI tool to improve the accuracy in the detection of Breast Cancer cases.
Hossam has a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy and biotechnology from Misr International University (MIU) in Egypt.
Louise Agersnap (B.A. and MA Pol. Sci.; B.H.A.) is an innovation and change management leader with extensive experience & knowledge of global health, development and the innovation ecosystem, acquired through 25+ years in the United Nations, private sector & government, NGO, and academia.
Currently leading the Innovation Hub at the World Health Organization, Mrs Agersnap is responsible for the development and execution of the strategy for WHO's Innovation in Health mission. In that context, Ms Agersnap is currently facilitating the ‘matchmaking’ between countries’ needs and demand and the supply of scalable solutions particularly in primary healthcare, Noncommunicable Diseases, and Mental Health, and supporting their scale up, and also contributing to building the global architecture and strategic partnerships to shape and enable WHO’s delivery of health innovation to Member States.
Louise is furthermore a selling artist with exhibits at the International Contemporary Art Fair in Luxembourg, the Van Gogh Art Gallery in Madrid and at www.louiseagersnap.com
Computer Scientist by training, Gabriel spent most of his career in digital innovation in the healthcare industry, developing collaborations with a wide range of partners, from early-stage startups to industry-established organizations.
Currently, he is actively working on developing engagement frameworks between science and research partners, as well as community engagement activities at Roche.
Olivia Kinghorst is a journalist, anchor and moderator based in Switzerland.
She was born and raised in Sydney, Australia and has since worked for outlets including CNN and Forbes DA. She currently resides in Zurich after living in Sydney, Munich and New York.
She completed her Masters in Journalism at Columbia University.
Anna holds a MSc from Stockholm School of Economics, as well as diplomas from the Karolinska Institutet and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).
She is passionate about the mix between economics, technology and the human aspect of healthcare.
In her current role she is responsible for the Innovation activities carried out at Groupe Mutuel, aiming to constantly bringing new topics and trends to the table.
After a stint in an energy startup, Iohannes joined the EPFL Innovation Park in 2019 to organise the Innosuisse entrepreneurship trainings. He has since contributed to the success of various acceleration programmes and in 2020 took over the reins of the early stage startup incubator La Forge. In 2022 he started the Future of Health Grant program, a non dilutive grant funded by an insurance company.
